The best robot hoover (secret info)

The best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It is one of our most attractive looking robot cleaner vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot cleaner with mop we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Also a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpg
