World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example an item with the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment using fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of an item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much they'll increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also give the player a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as possible.

In the final game you'll find that the most effective way to upgrade your equipment is to use Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, so it is recommended to position your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The system of upgrading items lets players increase the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires a different amount of components to be reached, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets upgraded.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When the player upgrades a piece of equipment it will be replaced with a new item. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a disadvantage since the item upgrades may increase in price even if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, however it shouldn't be done regularly, as it could waste many resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like dolphins). The item can be upgraded multiple times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items (Google`s recent blog post) allows players to boost the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate currency and items to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the item, and upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item, it is given a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to go to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned, such as the chance to crit attack damage, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or reloading speed). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in its crit chance it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. Players will still have to bring each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the costs mentioned above.
