Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs are a type of cot that can be attached to the side of your bed. They typically have a single side that can be lowered down to make it easier to reach, and some have an incline that's ideal for babies who have reflux.

MFM tester Georgina said that this crib was simple to put together, and the instructions were simple. It was a fast construction. It folds into an extremely compact size and comes with a handy travel bag.

Easy to put together

They are small and simple to set-up, so they can be set close to your bed. They are also lighter, making them more transportable. Georgina who was one of the MFM's home testers said that the Maxi-Cosi Lora was "super easy to assemble with clear instructions and simple zips." The crib can be used as a travel crib and comes with a convenient bag. It comes with multiple mesh openings for ventilation and its height-adjustable allows it to fit on any mattress.

Some cribs with a bedside feature a side panel which can be adjusted to let you easily reach your baby without getting out of bed. This is a great option for breastfeeding mums or parents who want to be with their baby throughout the night, but don't want to risk co-sleeping (which is linked to an increased risk of SIDS).

The majority of models have built-in functions that allow you to rock your baby. This can be a very comforting experience for your baby, and can help them to fall asleep. Cosy and comfortable

You can keep an eye on your child from the peace of your bed by using the bedside crib. It's a great choice for moms who are recovering from a C-section as it is easy to lift your infant towards you to feed them at night or change their nappies without having to get out of bed. The most comfortable cribs come with mesh sides that allow you to view your baby's face through.

Some cribs allow you to lower the barrier completely. This lets you co-sleep without the risks. (Make sure that the model chosen meets the current safety standards). Some cribs let you lower the barrier but then raise it again after you have lifted baby out. This is better for parents with concerns about their child's ability to roll off their mattress.

There's also an integrated reflux setting and the ability to swivel 360 degrees, allowing you to turn the crib according to the position your baby prefers.

If you're looking for something smaller in size the Tutti Bambini CoZee is a different stylish option, with oak legs and smart fabrics that will fit your decor. It's also incredibly easy to put together as Georgina who participated in our MFM tests was able to put it together quickly and didn't need to look up the instructions. It's also a great travel cot that folds flat and slipping into a bag for easy storage.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also on the larger side but is still quite compact and easy to attach into your bed. Georgina also found it easy to put together however she was disappointed that the instructions could have been more clear about the zips.

Easy to clean

Look for cribs with removable mattress covers that can be washed with the machine when looking at bedside rocking crib cribs or travel cots. This will help keep it clean from spills, nappies, baby sick and dribbles. It's an excellent idea to select a model that is easily removed and partially dismantled to allow you access to all the nooks and crannies for an efficient cleaning and sanitising session.

This is crucial, as it will ensure that all dirt and germs have been eliminated. Verify that the sides of the crib are securely secured so that your baby cannot slide off or become trapped.

Apart from being easy to clean, you'll need an infant crib that is a comfortable place for your baby and is compatible with your own bed. This is particularly important if you're using a bedside crib for co sleeper bedside cot-sleeping. These cribs are designed to be connected securely to the parent's side, which gives parents to have easy access to their baby during the night to feed and soothe them, while ensuring the security that separate sleeping areas provide.

This is the latest standard, which introduces more stringent requirements to ensure safe and effective sleep solutions.

The bedside crib, or co-sleeping bed as it's sometimes referred to is attached to the bed to allow you to reach your baby easily during the night without leaving your sleeping area. They can also be used as standalone cribs during the daytime. They usually have a side panel that can be adjusted to lower, so that you can see and touch your baby. Some have the option to keep the panel closed all night, which gives you the intimacy and convenience of sleeping with your baby, but minimises the risks of bed sharing. Some cribs will also convert into a travel cot, or have extra features like tilting, rocking (use with caution, remember to speak to your GP about this) or even turning into an older baby cot or playpen.
