Types of UPVC Door Handles

Lever/Lever

A lever is a rigid rod that pivots around a point. When you apply force to the end of the lever, it will tend to rotate the fulcrum to the direction of the force applied. For instance the class 2 lever is inclined to turn in the opposite direction as the effort force is applied (like a T-totter). If you push on the door's handle, the forces will produce the same rotational effects as this.

However, levers don't create energy. They multiply the force by making small amounts of effort applied over a longer distance into greater amounts of force that are applied over shorter distances. This allows you to accomplish more in a shorter period of time, which is why levers are commonly employed to lift heavy objects or moving large quantities of cargo. This is also the basis behind the levers you find in a variety of everyday tools, such as crowbars and fishing rods, claws for hammers, and even your legs when you sit on the hand brakes of your car.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also known as upvc door handles feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. These are available in a variety of finishes & variations and can be used on a wide range of materials such as UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for the outer and inner bifold door handle replacement, with screws and spindles included. They are available both hand- and non-handled versions to suit different users.

They can be used to replace existing doors made of upvc. The levers are raised to open all multipoint locks, and the key is turned to lock or close the door. They offer some extra security compared to traditional lever door handles since the locking window handles mechanism can only be gained from the inside with a key in the event that the door is locked.

They're not as secure as a cylinder bolt but are a cost-effective option to provide extra home security. The only downside is that they don't provide the same level protection like a cylinder lock and they don't restrict access to the home if the door is left open.

Lever/Snib

Lever latches, the simplest of all door handles, are commonly used. The lever is pushed down to open a latch inside the door that can be locked with keys. Some lever privacy handles work similar to the doorknob, however with an additional snib, which is similar to the doorknob.

A snib-button can be very beneficial, especially in homes where it's essential to protect privacy or ensure security. If your partner arrives home late from work, you can apply the snib button to ensure that they won't be able to enter until they're ready to move in. This kind handle is also used in doors that are inside such as bedrooms, where you might need to restrict access from the outside.

Snib buttons may cause problems in some cases, especially when you have old locks and warped doors. If the snib is used in a mistake or by someone who isn't quite used to it, the door may close and shut you out. You can usually get in by knocking the door frame or letterbox. But, this is not ideal.

Lever/Moveable Pad

This popular handle style is typically used for front doors. It has the advantage of preventing the door being opened without the key from outside when the lock hasn't been deadlocked. This is accomplished through the 'pad'-shaped external handle which locks in the gap between the handles and the lock case to prevent the latch from being removed or the door opened.

This handle is designed to be used with uPVC multipoint locks which use split spindle mechanisms. This kind of operation requires that the lever handle and external pad handle are both fitted to the same lock case. This could be a straightforward replacement of the current uPVC handle, however it may also require a new lock case or a new set of handles to handle furniture.

Lever/Moveable Snib

The lever handle is among the most sought-after kinds of door handles made of upvc and comes in a variety of designs. It is comprised of two inline handles that move and can be locked using either a key or a thumbturn cylinder on the inside. Pad handles can be used as an alternative to lever/lever handles. It is made up of an adjustable or fixed pad that can be used to operate the lock.
