Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the best ways to improve your gear without relying upon big-ticket drops or trade. This article will help you understand how to upgrade your items.

Upgrades in equipment can add an additional bonus to the item upgrader's base stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components are the parts that can make your weapons and armor better. You can find them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors or finding them in the form of item-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment that has them, or through the highest-quality salvage kits like the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components cannot be destroyed when they are removed from an item.

The main function of upgrade components is to allow an item to be upgraded however, they also serve other purposes. They can be used to increase the quality of an upgradeable item, or they can be used to boost the experience gained by upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can be made for additional bonuses. For instance, a specially created glyph can increase the chance of upgrading its target, while an upgrade boost will enhance the defense or attack property of a weapon, or armor.

You can bind an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will display the upgrade components that the item can be upgraded. Alternately, you can make use of the workbench to choose an upgrade template. In either scenario, the item upgrader mod will be upgraded once enough upgrade components have been collected.

Each component has a unique experience multiplier. This determines how much experience an item gains when upgraded using that component. For instance, organic components have a a higher experience multiplier than mechanical ones. It is therefore recommended to upgrade with organic components until you reach the experience multiplier for the next level of the weapon or gear, then change to mechanical upgrades.

Each item has a maximum upgrade number that can be received. The number of upgrades is determined by the rank that can be upgraded and the type of upgrade available to the upgradeable item. The most powerful upgrade is a weapon with 10th level. However, the most commonly used upgrades for weapons are an tier 6 weapon as well as an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a collection of items which all have the same bonus. Each item in the set can be upgraded at least one time, and each upgrade boosts the amount of bonuses that are guaranteed. The first time you upgrade the set piece or weapon, it will receive an increase of +1 to its primary stat. After subsequent upgrades the stats of the primary one will be increased a bit further (for example, +1 up to 12+/13+/14+) Each time you upgrade the item it will have one of its additional stats will be increased randomly.

Upgrades can also boost the damage base of a weapon. This could be crucial for certain types of weapons. However, weapons cannot be upgraded to have a greater defense level than their base. It is possible to increase the value of specific sets and unique items by upgrading them, but they might not always be better than a Runeword with a high level.

If an item you're upgrading has a guarantee bonus that is guaranteed, it can be rerolled once and the guarantee will be reset to 0. The same power dies are used to roll an item as it is used to upgrade it. However, the new item has different bonuses. The NPC [Armor] Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you'll need a power die of each kind (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; Dice 7 drops from bosses) and the proper amount of Minerals and Erons. These are available at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collector and can be purchased with Gold. NPCs also offer special rewards for each completed stage of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a single time with the same materials as the original item.

Rerolling

A player is able to play rerolling any item that they acquire in the game if they have enough reroll tokens to do so. When an upgraded item gets being rerolled, it can be exchanged for a version that is level 1 of the same item in a different set. Reroll tokens are available in the shop for a small amount of in-game currency. They cannot be refunded. The new item will have the same bonuses as the previous one, but the stats will differ.

Players can change the identification of equipment in addition to rerolling it by interacting with an NPC upgrader. This will change its identification from a weapon to an armor, or reverse the process. The base requirements and stats remain the same. The change is permanent and will affect all characters who are wearing the gear.

Players can also increase the level of their item on any equipped equipment by acquiring upgrade components and communicating with the upgrader NPC of the item. The cost will differ based on the upgrade track, item type and number of crests. In the case of weapons, each step up will add 5% to its damage.

Upgrades can increase the power of an item, however they can also reduce its quality. It is therefore important to strike a balance between the two. Some items may not be worth upgrading at all however, others will need to be upgraded to realize their potential. A player may want to upgrade their breakpoint armor using an interesting modification (% block chance or FHR) to discover what it could become.

Rerolling is a popular practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. It is a method used by players in order to get the character or weapon that they wouldn't otherwise have. These items can be costly and time-consuming to obtain and the RNG isn't always a good fit. The only alternative is to spend real money or grind extensively. Rerolling is a popular feature in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

You can select whether to upgrade the weapon or armor after upgrading an item. This feature isn't available in the current version of the game. I believe this feature was intended to increase the value of expensive and rare items. However, as most equipment is replaced quickly, and it can only be upgraded by one level, you will generally replace it before it is too old. It's also not worthwhile to upgrade items with gem sockets as the power of the gem will far outweigh the higher ilvl that comes with the upgrade.

You will see a small window when you click on the upgrade option on an item. It will show the template for the item, its Crest, as well as the Valorstone cost to raise the item level. The costs will vary between the armor and weapons and the latter typically costing more than the latter. The upgrade template outlines the stats that will be added to the upgraded item and also lists its current ilvl.

The cost of the Valorstone and Crest is calculated using the item's current Ilvl and the upgrade templates. The ilvl will also be reduced by the upgrade templates lvl reduction percentage. For example, an Upgrade Item of 8% will decrease the weapon's ilvl by 8 to 8%.

In addition to the increase in ilvl base the item will also receive upgrades in other stats like critical strike damage, damage from PvE and dodge, block and parry rating. These increases are built on the upgrade template.

The amount of damage and defense that the item is able to receive as it gets leveled up can be shown below the upgrade cost and decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All armor and weapons that are not practice equipment gain these stats upon leveling up. The market will determine the worth of these stats. A weapon or armor with perfect rolls can fetch a much higher price than an unupp'd version. The same applies to other pieces of armor, such as circlets and tiaras.
