The robots that vacuum and mop also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some extra cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the autonomous vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.
