Path of Exile item upgrader Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of extra damage, more AD or even more attachments.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic equipment because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They improve the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Additionally, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components inside them, with a professional or higher salvage kit.

The amount of damage an armored item level upgrade or weapon can absorb depends on the degree of upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.

There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game, and each one has distinct effects. Some upgrades give armor an additional amount of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade that an item level upgrade will be given, as illustrated below.

A few of the upgrades are also magical or a combination of magic and technology, which is identified by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a fee to use, which are identified by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades change daily or never expire according to the upgrade.

The cheapest method of upgrading armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the environment and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive but is readily available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are definitely worth the investment.

Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will greatly boost its defense but the wearer must be aware that increasing its weight will drastically reduce its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The defensive boost gained usually isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special enhancements to enhance their intrinsic capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

Most weapon upgrades require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. They can be obtained by finishing side quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Previously, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased quality. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and buying gear with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These will then be able to give you the highest tier benefits and blessings.

To improve their skills quicker, players usually prioritise upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to make them stronger. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when paired with biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be created through the process of jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gemstone and several reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the jewel has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The quality of a jewel can be improved by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the gem it can provide different stat boost when slotted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All levels of jewels can be made at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to obtain the privilege of having them. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the gem once within an item level upgrade of equipment.

It is typical to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction from pivots does not damage them.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely traded, but they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, aren't swappable and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that bestow an array of tiny but valuable benefits to your hero. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by doing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives a small, but valuable boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player can then acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets, in a similar way as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This allows the hero to be more effective while inactive and may also help to compensate for the absence of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with hero's ideal stats.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade just one crucial stat than two subpar ones.

In the beginning of the game, junglers will usually want to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and mid players usually choose a green or pink ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can impact the hero's ability to manage the map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. They can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating a boss. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
