Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for a wet one in seconds.

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose automatic vacuum and mop robot that is very efficient however it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
