They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot autonomous vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models this mop and best robot vacuum vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

Additionally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
