Types of UPVC Door Handles

Lever/Lever

A lever is a rigid rod that pivots around a point. When you apply force to the end of the lever it is likely to cause it to turn the fulcrum in the direction of the force applied. The distance between the fulcrum of the lever and the point where you apply force determines the maximum movement. This is known as the mechanical advantage. The more the lever extends the greater the advantage in terms of mechanical. You can calculate the mechanical advantage by dividing distance from the fulcrum point to the point you are applying force by distance between fulcrum point and the end of the lever.

Levers also have various effects based on the way in which forces are applied. These can be used to replace an existing doors made of upvc. The levers are lifted to open all multipoint locks, and the key is turned to close or unlock the door. They offer a little more security than traditional lever door handles, as the locking can only be done from the inside using a key.

They are not as secure as a cylinder bolt however they are an affordable alternative for a home with more security. The only disadvantage is that they do not offer the same level of security as a cylinder bolt, and consequently don't block access to outside when the door is left open.

Lever/Moveable Pad

This is a very popular handle design for front doors that has the advantage of stopping the door from opening from outside without a key, if the lock is not deadlocked. This is accomplished by using the 'pad-shaped' handle that locks into the gap between the handle and the lock case.

This handle is designed to be used with uPVC multipoint locks that employ split spindle mechanisms. This kind of operation requires that the lever handle and the external pad handle both be fitted to the same lock case. The lever handles are one of the most common kinds of upvc door handles. They are available in a variety of styles.
