In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the Best item upgrade ways to improve your equipment without relying on large-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upgrade your gear.

Upgrading equipment grants a bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus scales depending on the rarity and strength of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components are the items that improve your armor and weapons better. You can get them from fighting off enemies, locating them in item spheres or purchasing them from karma sellers. The new upgraded item will have the same benefits of the previous one however its stats will be different too.

In addition to rerolling items players can also change the identification of any item by interacting with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identification as a weapon to armor, or reverse the process. The base stats and requirements remain the same. The change will be permanent and will affect all characters who own the equipment.

Players can also increase the item level of any equipped equipment by obtaining upgrade components and communicating with the upgrader NPC of the item. The cost will vary depending on the upgrade track, the item type and number of crests. Each step will add an additional 5% of damage to weapons.
