Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot cleaner robot vacuum for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the amount of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create an automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpg
