UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. When replacing them, it is crucial that the new handles conform to the exact dimensions of the previous handle.

The top screw's position as well as the lever and keyhole size are the three measurements you need to verify. Use the size guide to help you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be installed on replacement or new doors. This kind of handle is available in various styles and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline and use the same spindle and screws to fix them. They are easily fitted on a new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be placed and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, which allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors with smaller door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A lever that is shorter can be used on doors with a latch which can be operated with the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in several finishes, including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres permit a larger handle, which is typically an advantage when replacing a damaged or old upvc window handles multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of handles that slide out of the horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting the replacement window handle UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. These are typically of a round or square shape, with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the home. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed models which allows them to be put on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically found on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. This reveals pins that can be aligned with those in the lock, and permit them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external require a more secure cylinder while internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place, but in the event that this is not possible, you can take it off to measure. It is crucial to ensure that there is no extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most newer cylinders have been made with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This can help to deflect attacks and protect your door.

Certain cylinders are constructed to resist snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a quicker and more convenient method of gaining access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located within the base of your door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after using. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This component is the best solution to fix this problem. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with sprung multipoint locks, they will not fit multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will need to have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They have a square cut out which can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and they are supplied individually.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the issue of sagging door handles. These spring cassettes are easy to install and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC door.
