How to Replace an audi car key replacement G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is located at the edge of transmission over the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU through the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

It is located on the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using the grey wire. The ECU utilizes this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can start spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will show a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However, the code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are various pins on the connector and they all have different functions. The best way to do it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms when it is at full operation. Check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had a big cut in power like the engine is out of gas or injectors aren't firing any more. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the 4th one was dry. When I start the engine, there are no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector holes, the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th stays closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The audi replacement car keys will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem persists at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c, even if I unplug it. Also, i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, i believe that i've completely ruled out all other possibilities. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 and both are used in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or from a parts store. Test them out by putting your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's end). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must know both the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If either of these goes wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner which can lead to engine shutdown.

A failing G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox, a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire in gear. It is likely that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. The good news is that they are very cheap and easy to find particularly in the case of the Bosch unit which is what ours are. Alternately, the GM version of this unit is also a good choice.

5. Tachometer

A damaged engine sensor could cause a variety of issues in your car. It's a crucial component of the transmission in your audi key replacement q5 audi replacement key fob (https://auto-locksmiths31995.alltdesign.Com/audi-a3-car-key-battery-s-history-of-audi-a3-car-key-battery-in-10-milestones-48295995), as it transmits information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the engine of the car is turning. When this sensor fails, it can cause problems for the transmission as well as the other car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 through a grey wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate fuel and boost, and also to timigrate. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and audi q5 Key the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe around 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is a typical part that is found across the audi key copy 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones might be availble in wrecking yards.happy-young-woman-with-key-sitting-in-new-car-2022-12-16-21-31-14-utc-min-scaled.jpg
