Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item are improved by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an indicator of the level of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item increases with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or by increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. Many items can also be reforged to increase their value.

Upgradeable items can be found throughout the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The main way to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are the items that can be slotted into equipment. The amount of upgrade components needed for a specific item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. Many weapons can be improved by adding a prefix, like a rune or an insignia. Other weapons can be enhanced by adding a suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are a powerful instrument for communicating visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewers and trigger interest in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language and makes them more effective in communicating the message of a language barrier. Glyphs can also enhance the retention of a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph comes with a range of values it can increase a stat's value, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This is the highest value that the glyph can enhance a stat by but not the amount it actually increases it by. The value of the glyph depends on the tier as well as the quality of the product you are in awe of.

The majority of upgrade items components that are slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it's not been applied to the gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. If you are looking to remove a glyph from a piece of you must salvage it with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
