Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst for Good Housekeeping's Home Care and Cleaning Lab.

He reviews and tests cleaning equipment, focusing on robot vacuums and mopping combos. Multitaskers are a great choice for those who want to cross mopping off the to-do list. Some have great mapping and obstacles avoidance. Others even wash and refill mopping pads for a hands-free cleaning.

The Eufy S1 Pro

This is the model you need to select if you're looking for an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It is smaller than other options and makes it more maneuverable in tight corners or under furniture. It features a 220 degree lidar that combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the best navigation and obstacle avoidance I've ever seen in a robot vacuum. It has a 4600mAh battery which can last up to 170 minutes if mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can be more efficient when using turbo). It will even return to the dock to top up its battery midway through a clean.

It's efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums the carpeted areas extremely quickly, and the hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in a single sweep. The suction motor's 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, droppings, and pet hair. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it encounters rugs and the dual side brushes help pull away debris from corners.

The mopping performance, while still impressive, is not as good. The rotating mop spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to collect larger debris like books and broken toys.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've tested. It doesn't produce as loud of a sound when mopping or vacuuming and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it must use a proprietary mopping solution and is sold separately. It is easy to install and performs well. However, if you are buying this vacuum solely for mopping, you will need to pay attention to this.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums which mops in its class. It is a powerful machine for cleaning with a variety of features.

The device is equipped with a powerful cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This enables it to map out your home and detect furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean efficiently and methodically. This ensures a thorough and consistent clean, while also being relatively rapid.

In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can reach many different surface areas. These include corners or baseboards, as well as other hard-to-reach areas. They also come with a stretchy side brush that can be extended to reach the floor close to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are washable and dry to remove odors and prevent buildup.

Another notable feature is the app-based customization options. The Q Revo allows you to alter the intensity of its suction and choose between a back-and-forth or slightly more random patterns. You can also alter the number of passes it must make, which will affect how quickly the device can move through your home. You can also deactivate the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.

It's expensive, however it has many useful features. However, it's important to note that it incurs recurring costs in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance, a brushroll needs to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter must be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pad must be replaced every three to six months.

This robot vacuum that mops has an excellent rating on Amazon and comes with a wide range of physical automation features. This includes an energy button that serves as a general "Clean button as well as a Home button that will take it back to its base station once it has completed its cleaning session. It also has a multifunctional dock that automatically empty the trash bin and refills its water tank for mopping and washes and dries its mop pads.

The Shark Matrix Plus

If you're a busy professional or someone who wants to have a clean home without spending a lot of time on chores The Shark Matrix Plus is a excellent choice. Its incredibly fast performance, sophisticated navigation and long battery life make it simple to maintain a clean home with little effort.

The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop which means it can handle mopping and vacuuming. It has two modules: a combined dry bin and reservoir of water, and a separate mopping unit with a microfiber pad that snaps into and out of position. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming may appear a bit dated, but they do mean that you don't need to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the water tank.

Our test subjects found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best feature was its accurate floorplan which it uses to determine a route when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also offers the option to set "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers that help to protect certain areas of your house from being cleaned with a mop.

We also discovered that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in picking up hair from pets. It was able to capture a large amount of hair our cats shed and even got into the nooks and crannies of our stairs, where other robots struggled. It was fairly silent and also had a few pleasant jingles that signalled when it was starting or finished its work.

The biggest flaws were its lack of sophistication and the requirement to change between the modules to switch between mopping and vacuuming. The app doesn't have the capacity to contain multiple maps, which can be a hassle when you live in a house with a mix of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for a smart robot that can do both mopping and vacuuming.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive in our review. However, it has certain unique features that make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its huge dock, which doubles as the robot's charging base as well as housing for two water tanks, a cleaning sink and an automatic 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.

The base also comes with a set of buttons to control the system. These allow you to manually start cleaning, recall the robot hoover and mop, or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two of the buttons to turn off a child lock that is a great option for parents concerned about children playing with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally get caught up in obstacles, like the power cord that is draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you free it. This was a rare incident however, it was a bit frustrating since the X1 does not have a "stuck status" alert in its application.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You'll have to manually swap between the two, which isn't too bad aside from the fact that mopping pads aren't washed and dried between use and can cause mildew or mold.

On the bright side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern, sleek base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a huge contrast to the basic black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. And it's an excellent choice for an industry dominated by boxes.robotic-vacuum-cleaner-cleaning-the-room-while-wom-2024-11-07-13-20-10-utc-min-jpg-original.jpg
