The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops

Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.

He evaluates and tests cleaning equipment. His main focus is robot vacuums, and mopping combinations. These multitaskers can be a great option for those who want to remove mopping from their list of things to do. Some have great mapping and obstacle avoidance. Others even wash and refill mopping pads for a hands-free clean.

The Eufy S1 Pro

This is the model you need to choose if you want a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It is smaller than other options, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces or under furniture. It has a 220 degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it some of the best navigation and object avoidance features I've seen in the form of a robotic automatic vacuum cleaner. It has a hefty 4600mAh battery that can last for up to 170-minutes if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can run longer in turbo). It can even return to the dock to top up its battery midway through cleaning.

It's fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in a single pass. Its 8,000pa motor is able to clean dirt, pet hair, and even droppings effortlessly. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the dual side brushes help pull away debris from corners.

The mopping efficiency is less impressive, but not by much. The rotating mop spins fast and utilizes 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a bit more than other robots. This is helpful when getting into difficult corners or on baseboards. Those same front arms can also be employed to clean up larger debris, like broken toys or books.

Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've ever tried. It doesn't create the same amount of noise while vacuuming or mopping and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping and is separate from the vacuum. It is easy to install, and it works well. However should you purchase this autonomous vacuum solely for mopping purposes it is important to be aware of this.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It is a powerful cleaning machine with a wide range of features.

The device has a powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map the home and identify furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and effectively. This leads to an effective, consistent cleaning that's also fairly quick.

This includes baseboards, corners and other hard to reach spots. They also come with a stretchy side brush that can extend to the floor in close proximity to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are also washable and dry to reduce odors and prevent buildup.

Another notable feature is the customization options that are available through apps. The Q Revo lets you adjust the suction intensity and choose a back-and forth or slightly random pattern. You can also set the number of passes it will make, which will affect how quickly the device can traverse your home. You can also choose to turn off the side brush to prevent damaging carpets and rugs.

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpgThis device has a fairly high price tag but has a variety of advanced features. It's crucial to note that it incurs regular expenses in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance brushrolls need to be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter is recommended to be cleaned after 150 hours, and mop pads should be replaced every one to three month.

This robot vacuum that mops has an excellent rating on Amazon and offers a wide array of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also has an power button that doubles as a 'Clean button' as well as a 'Home button to send it back home after cleaning. It also comes with a multi-functional dock which automatically empty the dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and drys its mop pads.

The Shark Matrix Plus

The Shark Matrix Plus will be an ideal option for busy professionals or anyone who needs to keep their home clean without spending too much time on chores. It is a powerful machine with smart navigation, and a long battery life that makes it simple to keep your home tidy with minimal effort.

The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, which means it can handle mopping and vacuuming. The robot is divided into two components that include a dry bin as well as a water tank that can be snapped out and in and a mopping module that is equipped with a microfiber pad. It's a little old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping but it does mean you don't need to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.

The Matrix Plus performed well at both vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best feature was its precise floorplan map that it uses to draw a route when cleaning. This made it a breeze for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture rug, furniture, and other obstacles. The app allows you to create 'No-Go Zones' or virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.

We also discovered that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in picking up pet hair. It was able capture a lot of the hair sheds from our cats. It even got into some of the nooks and crannies of our stairs, where other robots have struggled. The noise levels of the robot were low, and there were some pleasant jingles to let you know that it was starting and getting its work done.

The app was too basic and you had to alter the modules every time you switched between vacuuming and mops. The app can't contain multiple maps, which can be a hassle when you live in a house that has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for an intelligent robot vacuums with mop that can perform both mopping and vacuuming.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. It does however, have distinct features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni is most well-known for its huge dock that doubles as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses the 2.5-liter dustbin and a 2.5 liter dust bin.

The base has a few control buttons, which allow you to manually begin a cleaning task or recall the robot, or run the dock’s auto-emptying procedure. Press two of the buttons to switch on a child lock, which is a nice feature for parents who are worried about children playing with the automatic vacuum and mop.

Like other robotic vacuums, the Omni Omni utilizes its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally become so entangled with obstacles, like the power cord that is draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you manually free it. This was a rare occurrence, but frustrating nonetheless, since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert on its app.

The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually swap between the two modes, which isn't an issue aside from the fact that the mopping pads aren't washed and dried between uses which could lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a huge contrast to the basic black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. It's also a welcome sight for the market that is dominated by boxes.
